Magnesium Citrizorb® provides 100mg elemental magnesium (per vegetarian and vegan capsule) in a highly bioavailable and bioactive organic citrate form.Magnesium contributes to normal muscle function, protein synthesis, energy-yielding metabolism and reduction of tiredness and fatigue.
Official and suggested dietary intake levels:
The Government RDA level for magnesium is 300mg. However, we feel this is a little low and so we recommend an optimum level of 400mg of elemental magnesium daily.
Biological functions:
Magnesium is a cofactor in many enzyme systems including those for protein synthesis and anaerobic and aerobic energy metabolism. It also regulates the movement of potassium in myocardial cells and there is some evidence of its involvement in the synthesis of RNA and DNA. Magnesium plays a key role in supporting the activities of our muscles, nerves, white blood cells, spleen, thymus, and antibodies.
Dietary sources of magnesium:
Magnesium is present in a wide variety of foods. Magnesium is found in particularly high levels in shell fish, with meats and dairy produce containing less. Nutrigold Citrizorb Magnesium is a good quality magnesium.
