Each capsule provides a broad range of vitamins and minerals so can be used as a multivitamin, in addition to specific ingredients that work synergistically to support the health and functioning of the liver. This includes targeted botanicals, antioxidants and amino acids.
What are the key ingredients?
Liver Support provides a range of botanical extracts including milk thistle, dandelion, beetroot, grape seed and quercetin. Milk thistle is a popular herb which provides the active flavonoid silymarin. Both milk thistle and dandelion have a long history of traditional use in providing support for the liver.
The formula also includes lecithin, which contains phosphatidylcholine. Phosphatidylcholine is essential for cell membrane health and for supporting healthy fat transport and metabolism in the body, thereby maintaining normal liver function.
A range of amino acids, including the sulphur amino acids N-Acetyl-L-Cysteine (NAC), L-cysteine and L-methionine, are also included to support detoxification pathways.
In addition, the three amino acids L-cysteine, L-glycine and L-glutamine are included as these are needed to make and replenish the 'master' antioxidant - glutathione. Glutathione is found within most cells in the body where it protects them from oxidative stress and supports the detoxification of toxins and carcinogens.
Vitamins C and E, selenium, zinc, copper and manganese all contribute to the protection of cells from oxidative stress.
