Sage

Sage

Sage is a pretty plant with a fragrant smell that many people use for cooking and medicinal purposes. Sage has many chemical constituents including flavanoids that have healing properties. In Europe people will often gargle with sage water to soothe a sore throat and reduce inflammation in the gums.

Sage is also thought to have antibacterial, anti-fungal and anti-viral properties so it is widely used medicinally. Sage also is used to improve memory. One option for using sage is to boil the leaves, then let sit.

Strain the water out and apply it to the affected area, or swill it in the mouth. It is a lot like drinking a mild tea, which is soothing for people who are sick. Sage supplements are available, to be taken in easy to swallow capsules. People can either take the pills as a treatment or as a daily supplement to promote overall health and fight off viruses.
