WHAT IS BETAINE HYDROCHLORIDE?
The stomach naturally produces hydrochloric acid to maintain its standard acidity and breakdown food. This is an important process that maintains effective digestion and can kill pathogenic bacteria that can be present within food. Natural production of hydrochloric acid can reduce (hypochlorhydria) when:
- we age
- in the presence of stress
- consuming high sugar foods
- consuming allergens
- there is zinc deficiency
- not chewing or eating too quickly
Betaine HCl is used to help break down food and assist digestion whilst building back up natural production and eliminating causes.
