A Healthy Gastrointestinal Tract is Vital to Our Quality of Life

There are a total of eleven “systems” that comprise the human body and they include the cardiovascular system, the circulatory system, the respiratory system, the reproductive system, the endocrine system, the nervous system, the muscular system, the skeletal system, the integumentary system, the immune system, and the digestive system.

Each is vital to life and each one depends on the others to continually function smoothly and efficiently. If one fails us, they all may fail unless proper medical attention is given speedily and efficiently.

Supplements help us keep in balance with nature

Supplemental help can prove beneficial to many of these important systems and doctors often prescribe various additives to help us maintain proper health and nutrition.

Gastrointestinal supplements can aid in the process of digesting our food so it can be metabolized and found useful to each of our vital systems. The human digestive system secretes seven liters of fluid every day, half of which is derived from the pancreas, liver, and salivary glands.

The remaining fluids are secreted by the epithelial cells within the gastrointestinal tract. These fluids are in the form of digestive enzymes, bile, mucus, and ions.

The digestive and gastrointestinal tracts run from stomach to anus

A highly complex series of processes is used to make what we eat and drink of benefit to our body.  Take a bite of an apple as an example. We bite down and break off a piece which is immediately awash in digestive fluids in our mouth otherwise known as saliva.

This helps us swallow the bite which then travels down the esophagus and enters the stomach. Stomach juices are primarily made up of strong acids meant to dissolve foods before they travel on to the intestinal tract. In this, the gastrointestinal tract, there are muscles which move foods down along its path, macerating these substances as they move along.

Vital nutrients are taken from the food particles as they move along and by the time these substances arrive at the anus they have been depleted of any useful nutrients and pass from our body simply as waste materials (feces).

Never underestimate the benefits of a good bowel movement

When this system works smoothly and efficiently it insures our good health and vitality because we are taking in all of the vital nutrients those healthy foods we eat have to offer, while expelling the waste material.

The GI system (gastrointestinal tract) is broken down into two parts, the upper GI and the lower GI. Upper is from the mouth to the stomach and this portion is vital as it begins the intake process which allows all our important nutritious vitamins and minerals to enter our body to be utilized by all of our bodily systems.

The lower GI system consists of the large and small intestine in which the final process of digestion and absorption of foods, vitamins, and minerals is undertaken. If any portion is out of “whack” or unbalanced due to some illness or infection, the foods will not be absorbed as they should, resulting in each of our body’s systems becoming unbalanced and we become ill. Gastrointestinal supplements benefit us by helping maintain a healthy balance in both the upper and lower GI systems.

Enzymes help regulate the gastrointestinal tract

Enzymes found in gastrointestinal supplements help by creating a balanced digestive system. When foods we eat are not broken down and assimilated into our body as they should be, we become ill.

Enzymes help by insuring the foods we eat are turned into usable nutrients. Improving the function of the small intestine, these enzymes allow the system to do its job efficiently and overcome any problems with food allergies, too much sugar in the diet, food intolerance, infection, and irritating influences from certain foods.
