Veins

Improving Nutrition is Part of Helpful Supplements for Veins

Those visible veins seen mostly on the lower portion of a leg are generally called varicose veins and can present problems when they become swollen or twisted. The most common veins to have this problem are superficial and can be seen clearly just beneath the skin.

Besides the cosmetically unattractive appearance of varicose veins they can also be painful and result in muscle cramps and an aching and heaviness in the legs. The problem of varicose veins may additionally be noted in the area around the anus and is then called hemorrhoids. They are often the result of improper diet, constipation, or sitting overly long.

Spider veins are tiny veins which are usually dilated capillaries, often appearing on the face, upper arms, and neck and radiate out like spider legs. They can be unsightly when appearing on the face and are often the result of too much alcohol or medications.

Supplements for veins that can be beneficial

Supplements are available that can help relieve the symptoms of varicose veins but prevention is the best remedy. Many times the problem involves nutrition and there are supplemental ingredients that may help. Among the supplements considered to be most effective for vein problems are:

Vitamin A

Taking a daily dose of 25,000 IU helps promote healing of skin as well as improving the integrity of skin.Vitamin B-complexThe many vitamins included in the B-complex prove beneficial by assisting in the maintenance of blood vessels, keeping the cell structure and walls of blood vessels and veins strong.

Beta-carotene

A powerful antioxidant, beta-carotene helps by protecting cells from free radicals that can harm cells which surround our blood vessels and veins. It also aids by improving the immune system and providing vitamin A.

Bromelain

This valuable enzyme helps prevent blood clotting and also helps reduce swelling and inflammation. It has effective anti-inflammatory properties that also are beneficial for those suffering from rheumatism.

Vitamin C plus bioflavonoids

Help by promoting good blood circulation, strengthening the walls of our veins, and promoting the healing of surface sores.

Some beneficial minerals like Calcium, magnesium, and lecithin

Taking a daily vitamin and mineral supplement which includes calcium, magnesium, and lecithin promotes healthy veins and skin by stimulating the venous system, aiding circulation, and relaxing muscles and arteries in the legs.Calcium Fluoride, taken as tissue salts helps improve the elasticity of walls of blood vessels, keeping them from breaking or leaking which results in varicose veins.

Vitamin E proves highly beneficial yet again

A daily dose of from 300 to 800 IU of vitamin E is highly beneficial in improving the health of our veins and circulation. Painful cramps due to narrowed or hardened arteries and veins in the calf of your leg may be relieved by the addition of vitamin E to the diet.

Zinc and vitamin K heal from within

While vitamin K applied as a cream will strengthen the capillaries of the skin, zinc will work by helping heal the skin and improve collagen formation.

Problems with veins and arteries can be caused by external factors

Wearing tight clothing, sitting or standing for long periods, and extremes of temperature are all causes of vein problems for which supplements have been proven useful.

Some of the remedies which are considered part of “folk lore” include aloe vera (gel made from a cactus plant), apple cider vinegar (applied topically), cayenne pepper (one teaspoon in hot water taken daily stops pain as it improves blood flow and reduces varicose veins), chlorophyll is an excellent source of vitamin K and known for its anti hemorrhagic properties, cod liver oil which is an ancient remedy but quite effective when blended with honey, applied with a bandage, and left on problem areas overnight, and garlic which has been touted as a remedy for every imaginable ailment (and has proven effective for most).
