Garcinia Cambogia

It’s a big word but a small plant. Garcinia cambogia is an Indian fruit that looks like a tiny pumpkin. Hydroxycitric acid can be extracted from both its inner flesh and rind, and is used in a number of marketed weight loss products. Hydroxycitric acid claims to dramatically reduce the appetite and help the body burn fat at an accelerated rate. There are no human research trials that have shown results to support these claims however. Theoretically hydroxycitric acid, or HCA, works as an inhibitor fighting an enzyme called citrate lyase. Citrate lyase is what turns extra carbs into body fat. Therefore if HCA could indeed inhibit this enzyme, it is assumed the body would begin to burn off carbohydrates more efficiently. Garcinia cambogia is typically sold in pill form with a standardized amount of HCA. Daily doses are suggested in threes, with breakfast, lunch and dinner.
