However, by utilising organic molecules such as ascorbic acid (vitamin C) and malic acid to improve absorption, people who are generally sensitive to iron supplementation tolerate iron without upset. It has been known for many years that malic acid found naturally in apples and vitamin C found in oranges acts as a biologically active mineral transporter for molecular iron by changing ferric iron III to ferric iron II.

None

Contra-indications
To be used when clinically required. Not suitable for individuals with haemachromatosis - a common inherited disorder where iron absorption from the small intestine is not properly regulated.
